Lake Sherwood Hike
Saturday, September 6, 2025 (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM)
(EDT)
Description
Ever wanted to be a triathlete? Hike with Active SWV and the Greenbrier County group around Lake Sherwood on Saturday, September 6. On the 3.7 mile hike around Lake Sherwood, you will probably see beaver activity, reptiles, birds, and other wildlife. The trail, in the Lake Sherwood Recreation Area in the Monongahela National Forest, is fairly easy. After the Active SWV hike, you may choose stay at Lake Sherwood to swim on your own at the designated swimming beach which has a sandy bottom, and is popular with campers and visitors alike. Kayaks and canoes are also allowed on the lake, although the rental office will be closed for the season. Feel free to bring your own. And that makes THREE activities - hiking, swimming, kayaking! Any activities after the hike are not sponsored by Active SWV or the hike leader.
Meet at The Hub in Lewisburg at 9:00 a.m. to carpool/caravan. Depending on the number of persons, additional drivers may be needed. It takes slightly over one hour to drive to Lake Sherwood. Bring a lunch and/or snacks. Hiking boots or shoes are recommended due to the distance and type of trail. If you are planning to stay for other activities on your own, bring supplies. (There is a changing room at the beach, which may or may not be open due to time of year. Creativity rules!)
Registration to any Active SWV free programming indicates acceptance of our liability waiver for every adult and child attending.
